Ashstorm Music Playlist. Move by Thousand Foot Krutch

Chapter Three sees the introduction of Olivia Ashkarov, the main female protagonist in Ashstorm and the “ash” in the title. Olivia is the youngest and yet likely most powerful immortal in the entire Seventeen series. She was an intriguing and challenging character to write as she was meant to embody so much: youth (relatively speaking!), innocence, kindness, but also strength, passion, and power on an unimaginable scale. Her transformation through the book is one of the key successes of Ashstorm, as reflected by feedback from my editors and beta readers, and reviews by fans. That she manages to seriously kick everyone’s ass to the floor by the end of this novel and yet maintain her core innocence is the reason she is one of my all-time favorite characters.

Chapter Three was one of the coolest ones to write, from my point of view. The shock factor is strong and the action comes hard and fast. Move by Thousand Foot Krutch was the perfect song to write this with as it evoked the same sense of urgency as the prose.
