Chapter Twenty-Three sees us delving into the past once more as Asgard and Ethan talk to an important figure in the immortal societies, while Madeleine and Howard reflect on their possible fate at the hands of their enemy. This was actually quite a fun chapter to write as it combined the politics of the immortal societies, a deeper insight into Asgard’s somewhat stubborn spirit, and the deepening bonds of friendship between Madeleine and Howard. The Last Days of Life by The Veer Union was the best song for these scenes.
