The Website, the Blog, the Radio Interview, and the new Treadmill Desk
So, these were meant to be separate posts that I had planned to put up over the last week. You’re going to get them all in one go!
First, the radio interview. The fabulous Esther Harris of Booked PR has landed me a slot on The Annie Othen Show on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Wednesday 2 July at 11am. I will attempt to post an audio copy of my live chat on the blog here at a later date. Unless I screw it up. In which case I won’t. You’ll probably find it somewhere on You Tube, with appropriate comic sound effects.
I have GOT to remember not to swear on live radio…
Next, the website. I hope you like the new background and layout. It took me days to put this together but I’m pleased with the results. The process involved a lot of lip chewing, staring at css codes until my vision blurred, hair pulling, pleas to several deities, tea, and booze (dedicated to the deities but somebody had to drink it). I originally went with a dark background but found that my covers were difficult to see on it. Thanks to everyone who provided feedback, especially the boys and girls at work who got assaulted with twenty questions and had an iPad mini flashed at them during their lunch break. And special thanks to Noonie, beta reader extraordinaire and future author assistant in waiting, who got to the bare bones of the matter over tea and chocolate a couple of days ago.
Third, the blog. After much deliberation and coaxing by several author and blogger friends, I’ve decided to change the news section of the website to an official blog. Don’t get your knickers in a twist. This section of the website is currently updated weekly with music clips from the books’ playlists and ad hoc posts from my writing life. The latter may get more regular. There are already plenty of fantastic blogs out there full of writerly advice for authors, so I will try and keep mine reader centric.
And finally, the treadmill desk. Alas, my old Confidence treadmill went the way of the Dodo on Friday 6 June at 10.15 am. There was a loud bang, a puff of smoke, and a burning smell. So I decided to upgrade to an actual treadmill desk base unit and went for the LifeSpan TR1200-DT3 Treadmill Base Unit & Console. The price did make me wince but I consider it a long term investment as I will be getting plenty of use out of it. The warranty on the motor makes it worthwhile as well.
So here it is in action. Yes, the irony of the Dodo picture doesn’t escape me either…
